Rachel and Seth met two years ago on Tinder. Seth initially piqued Rachel’s interest with the extra cheesy opener of, "If you hang out with me you'll have more than just a gouda time!" The conversation quickly evolved into a myriad of stats jokes about how to create a randomized study to determine the efficacy of different pick up lines. They met in person a couple of days later and clicked immediately (for obvious reasons).
Right away, Seth and Rachel realized they had a lot in common: they both liked video games, they both liked board games, they both liked the same brand of humor and, most importantly, they both REALLY liked each other. But they also realized that they had individual interests which they began sharing. Seth showed Rachel Star Wars (of which she is now an expert) and Rachel began teaching Seth how to cook. Very quickly, Rachel and Seth were seeing each other every weekend despite the hour commute each way and they have communicated with one another every day since they matched on Tinder. Both Rachel and Seth realized early on that they were a pretty perfect match and that they wanted to be together. To this day, Rachel often says, “I didn’t believe in soul mates until I met Seth.” But with a love like theirs, it’s hard not to believe in fate.
Rachel and Seth became engaged in October of 2016. They had their parents over for brunch—an elaborate plot to get Rachel’s parents’ blessing unbeknownst to Rachel. A week prior to the engagement, Seth had dinner with his parents and had blurted out that he wanted to ask Rachel to marry him and, thus, a plan was hatched! The Myers went to Claire's and bought a symbolic ring so Seth could propose ASAP and arranged for Rachel’s parents to come over so Seth could ask them in person. The morning of the proposal, Seth and Rachel made their famous eggs benedict with Seth obsessing over the hollandaise sauce (or so Rachel thought) and Rachel telling him to calm, down—that it was only brunch! After they made breakfast, everyone sat down while Seth stood awkwardly next to Rachel’s chair. Rachel told him to sit down—that everyone had what they needed. Instead he, full of nervous energy, half yelled to the table, "I HAVE AN ANNOUNCEMENT!” He turned shakily towards Rachel, “...with you actually... turn your chair to the side..." He then got down on one knee, told Rachel he loved her more each day, and asked her to marry him. She immediately said yes and hugged her new fiance.
Seth has more than held up his promise of being “more than just a gouda time.” Together, Rachel and Seth have found love, happiness, and a new life with one another.
